This youthful Chateauneuf has a very complex nose of graphite, raw meat and lilies. With aeration the black-cherry note steadily grows in intensity. Bold, leathery and earthy palate with fine tannins that build steadily on at the extremely long and straight mineral finish.
A modern and complex Toscana with plenty of dark spices, cedar, chocolate and fresh blackberries. Fresh, juicy and lightly chewy on the palate, with a medium to full body and a long, spicy finish. I like the freshness and tension. Give it one or two years to let the wood spices meld.
Bay leaves, currants and violets on the nose with a touch of iron. It’s medium- to full-bodied, balanced and supple. I like the herb and peppercorn freshness. Blend of 77% syrah, 9% grenache, cinsault, 5% cabernet sauvignon and 1% viognier.
A profound wine with vibrancy and complexity, exuding restrained cherries and raspberries, together with touches of ash and fresh orange peel. Leafiness and meaty minerality add an extra dimension. The oak is smart, serving to compress the sweet cherry fruit while lending an accent of savoriness. Finely wrought tannins that are still etched with wood but refined. This will find its place with patience. Cooler sourcing from the eastern zone of Ilasi, a limestone-dominant terroir that is increasingly becoming a great source for fresh reds.
This maturing Romanian merlot has a stunning nose of red-berry fruit with excellent savory complexity. Elegant balance of generous, fine tannins and animating acidity on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Then you really feel the concentration at the long, plush finish.
A fuller and chewier expression here with a medium to full body. Fresh blackberries, mussels, stones and a hint of black pepper. Lots of fruit on a palate with a tangy, peppery finish.
This is a very stylish, plump and fleshy pinot that has a sweetly spicy, floral and fragrant nose with ripe red and dark cherries, as well as sappy, forest leaves and gentle, earthy tones. Complex, young and fresh. The palate has such supple and sappy cherries and blueberries with a fresh, tangy line of acidity and a long, polished finish. Impressive.
What a perfumed nose with plenty of violets, iodine, blueberries and mineral. Lots of sappy fruit with fine-grained tannins that tightly wrap the full-bodied palate. Pristine, concentrated and quintessential. A selection of the stoniest soils from Paraje Altamira. 100% whole-bunch fermentation. Needs at least two years to soften the tannins
Dried herbs with lemon curd, pie crust, licorice and stone on the nose. Not overly fruity, but it doesn’t lack fruit either. Medium- to full-bodied with a nice mineral tweak to the limpid fruit. Transparent before it turns creamy at the end, with a long but rather subtle finish. A consistent chardonnay that shows excellent quality.
A spicy, vibrant red of 50% cabernet franc and 50% malbec. Plenty of baking spices, smoke and savory berries on the nose that extend to a nicely fluid, medium-bodied palate with silky tannins and a juicy finish. Drink now
